about 1972

Some names are chosen because they sound good. 1972 was chosen because it means something. It is the year Stephanie Williams’s father, and best friend, was born. His photographs appear throughout the salons, but the tribute is larger than what hangs on the walls. It lives in the name over the door and in the place Stephanie has built beneath it.

meet the founder, Stephanie Williams

Stephanie created 1972 with a clear idea of how a salon should feel: welcoming, beautifully considered, and serious about the work without ever feeling impersonal. What began as one North Paulding salon has grown into two locations and a team of nearly 20 stylists.

Education has remained part of that growth from the beginning. Stephanie has welcomed leading educators from across the country, creating opportunities for her team and other stylists to keep learning, refining their craft, and becoming better at the work they have chosen.

WHAT SHE SET OUT TO BUILD

Stephanie never wanted 1972 to feel like a salon people simply moved through. She wanted to create a place clients looked forward to returning to and stylists could build lasting careers. A place with high standards, room to grow, and enough warmth to make people feel known.

As 1972 has grown from North Paulding to Acworth, that idea has remained steady. The spaces may be different and the team may be larger, but the intention is still the same: do exceptional work, take good care of people, and never lose the personal part along the way.
